FAQs
1. My child shys away from drama/standing out; is this camp appropriate for them? Yes, absolutely. We create a nurturing child-led environment where everyone is able to express themselves freely. There is a broad variety of activities aside from acting; singing, dancing, story telling, game playing, crafting, as well as learning theatre skills, so there is plenty of opportunity to shine. We play lots of games that help build confidence, we know who the less demonstrative children are and carefully coax them out of their shells, and we have a 100% hit rate of turning the 'shy' ones into those that don't want to go home!
2. Do you have the resources to manage my child? We welcome everyone. We have a lot of experience working with SEN children. Please be as upfront as you can with us and we'll work together to ensure your child is safe, given appropriate attention, and has as much fun as possible with us.
3. The age range is broad; my 11 year old won't want to play 5 year old games. We recognise there's a big difference between a 5 and an 11 year old. We run lots of group activities and ensure children are grouped sensibly together. We vary our expectations dependent on age and ability - we keep a very close eye on this, so that everyone is either in their comfort zone or being stretched creatively, and never bored or feels patronised.
4. What is wrap around and what do you do? They're additional hours (8.30-9.30; 3.30-5.30) on top of the standard hours (9.30-3.30); drop off early, pick up later so you can do more with your day! It involves a mix of free and structured play. Invariably the morning hour involves drawing and the afternoon hours, when energy levels are higher, involves drama game playing, some outside time, board games, drawing. There is no screen time during wrap around.
