Who are your workshop leaders?
Whatever type of workshop you have booked know that your Infinite Jest workshop leader has been carefully recruited for their skills and experience. Our team consists of professional actors who bring a broad range of range of experience into the classroom – many are teachers, or have had careers in business, or are additionally professional musicians, dancers, stand up comedians.
Who are your workshop leaders?
Whatever type of workshop you have booked know that your Infinite Jest workshop leader has been carefully recruited for their skills and experience. Our team consists of professional actors who bring a broad range of range of experience into the classroom – many are teachers, or have had careers in business, or are additionally professional musicians, dancers, stand up comedians.
What happens in your drama-based workshops?
We push the classroom tables and chairs to one side – or hopefully we’ll use your school hall! – and get active. Our workshops are interactive – there will be games and exercises that aim to test knowledge, refresh memories, suggest different perspectives, and encourage the student to step into the world the character, or text. It lifts words off the page. This develops empathy, deeper understanding, and helps embed learning. There will be individual and group exercises and opportunities to show our work to each other. This generates mutual support, stirs up imaginations, and allows for the less demonstrative to share their ideas. We create an inclusive, supportive, welcoming atmosphere where students are encouraged to express themselves and are applauded for doing so. Nothing is forced, no one is picked on to stand up and perform. It’s less about acting and more about exploring.
